The Hungarian Practical Dictionary contains 31,000 entries with
thousands of phrases, expressions and illustrative examples. It is
the first day American English and Hungarian usage. In selecting

colloquial everyday, business, medical and technical vocabulary to
meet the needs of those traveling or working in these countries.
The dictionary is primarily aimed at an American audience,
therefore it contains a concise introduction to Hungarian
grammar and a thorough guide to Hungarian pronunciation. It
does not, however, contain the same for English, with the
exception of a listing of irregular English verbs in the Appendix.
Hungarian users should have at least an elementary command of
English to be able to use this dictionary, and they will find this
dictionary useful and practical as well.
Special features include appendices of irregular verbs in both
English and Hungarian, as well as listings of measurements and
numbers for both languages.
About the author:
Eva Szabo is a language training specialist at the U.S. Department
of State, Foreign Service Institute in Washington, D.C. She earned
a Master’s degree in teaching English and Russian as second
languages in Debrecen, Hungary. Eva Szabo also works as a
translator on a freelance basis. She currently resides in Alexandria,
Virginia.
